Vaccine FAQs

Is the vaccine available to me?

The vaccine is now available for FREE to anyone older than 16 in Northeast Tennessee! This includes anyone living in the area, regardless of immigration or health insurance status.

Which vaccine are you distributing?

Which vaccine you will get depends on the availability of each (Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson) per location.

What do I need to bring to be vaccinated?

Just make sure to wear a short-sleeved shirt. That’s all you need!

What is the Delta variant?

The Delta variant, also known as B.1.617.2 and first identified in India, is more contagious and resistant to vaccines than the dominant Alpha (U.K.) strain circulating in the U.S. and carries a greater risk of hospitalization.

Is it more severe?

Delta may also cause more severe illness. A recent Scottish study, for instance, found that people infected by the Delta variant were roughly twice as likely to be hospitalized as those infected with Alpha.

Do vaccines work against the Delta strain?

Although there is not yet good data on how all of the vaccines hold up against Delta, several widely used shots, including those made by Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca, appear to retain most of their effectiveness against the Delta variant, research suggests.

However, if you only have your first dose, one dose was just 33 percent effective against Delta.

The Delta variant will largely affect those who are unvaccinated. The number of cases is growing quickly; it’s time to #takeashotonlife.
